There&rsquo s evidence that people from BME communities are not sure where or how to find information about dementia. This is exacerbated by language barriers or when people have lost cognitive skills, or if online information is not available in community languages. People may confuse the symptoms of dementia with &lsquo normal ageing&rsquo and not seek the support that is available. That is why access to sector organisations which can support navigation of the system is so important.

Dolores Gallagher-Thompson, ., is an Associate Professor of Research at Stanford University, and runs the Older Adult and Family Research Center for the Veteran''s Administration in Menlo Park, California. An American Psychological Association (APA) Fellow in the Division of Clinical Psychology and the Division of Health Psychology, she has authored and co-authored well over a hundred journal articles and book chapters in her research career.

There was little variation in the age at which people were diagnosed, but the incidence rate varied greatly among demographics.

The other, a study in the New England Journal of Medicine , was based on data from the decades-long Framingham Heart Study, and came away with far more optimistic results.

To facilitate comparisons among groups and over time, while adjusting for family size and for inflation, Healthy People 7575 categorizes family income using the Poverty Threshold (PT), sometimes also referred to as the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), developed by the Census Bureau. Unless otherwise overridden by considerations specific to the data system, the five categories of family income primarily used are:
